HELP / EDIT / EXPORT
Make your first GIF.
Import your footage, choose the moments and save a loop of up to 30 seconds.
Import your videos
Drag videos into the import area or choose Import videos with ⌘O. You can add multiple clips and long source videos. There is no fixed source-duration or clip-count limit.
Choose your sections
Select a clip and use Source clip. Play or scrub the original, then press I for In and O for Out. You can also type seconds or HH:MM:SS.mmm. Press Esc to leave a text field before using I/O shortcuts.
The combined selected duration turns orange above 30 seconds. You can keep importing and editing; export becomes available when your selected sections total 30 seconds or less, accounting for playback speed.
Preview and refine
Reorder clips with the arrows or by dragging their rows. Final Comp shows your sequence and text layer with the chosen canvas, speed and Fit/Fill. It previews the first 30 seconds, without changing your markers. Source clip plays the original video for trimming.
Convert and save
Choose resolution, frame rate and colours, then Convert to GIF or ⌘Return. Exported GIF shows the actual encoded file. Save with ⌘S. To try different settings, use Dump GIF / Change settings. Your clips and edits remain.
Common questions
Why can’t I convert yet?
Check the message next to the conversion controls. Your selected sections must total no more than 30 seconds. Each section must be at least 0.1 seconds and stay within its source. Output dimensions must be between 16 and 2,048 pixels each. Very large exports may need a lower frame rate, resolution or duration.
Why does a size target change the result?
File-size fitting may reduce resolution, colours or frame rate to meet your target. A target is not guaranteed; the app reports if the smallest attempted result is still too large. The requested settings remain available for your next export.
Which video formats work?
Videos that macOS can decode through AVFoundation. Standard H.264 MP4 and ProRes MOV are useful choices. Container names alone do not guarantee codec support. If a clip fails, try it in QuickTime and export it from your editor in a supported format.
Where is the sound?
GIFs contain no audio. Composition and GIF previews are silent.
What is saved between sessions?
This version is a session-based editor. It does not save projects or restore your clip list after quitting. Save the finished GIF before you quit.
How do I clear everything?
Clear all starts a new edit. It asks for confirmation if a generated GIF would be discarded. Removing or clearing clips does not delete your original videos or previously saved GIFs.
